WHAT IS MIND BODY THERAPY?
Mind- Body Therapy is an approach to healing that looks at a person from an integrated perspective, that is, mind, body, and spirit. I use this method in addition to traditional psychotherapy, which focuses on how cognition and thoughts impact behavior. Through mind body therapy we add an additional layer of treatment by focusing on the relationship between a person’s mental, physical, and spiritual experience and the impact of these experiences on the person’s overall wellbeing.
Introspection therapy guides individuals through a compassionate approach, to draw attention inward and develop self-awareness. When we are self-aware, we notice what is happening in our body. We become aware of our thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations as they are happening in the present moment.
Techniques used in Mind- Body therapy include mindfulness, yoga therapy, EMDR, Yoga Nidra, and guided imagery.
Over the last years, I have immersed myself in exploring the relationship between mind and body therapies and have found that when combined these two produce long term effects as it directly taps into activating our innate capacity to heal ourselves.
“Yoga is a way of moving into stillness in order to experience the truth of who you are”.
